Pocket Holes Or Brad Nails For Drawers?

The dimensions for the drawer in this tutorial utilise to the 3 Drawer Nightstand I recently built. Adjust as necessary for your project.

TOOLS & MATERIALS:

Miter Saw
Drill
Brad Nailer
3/4″ Terminate Nails
Kreg Pocket Pigsty Jig
1 1/4″ Pocket Hole Screws
Tape Measure
Clamps
Wood Glue
Speed Foursquare
Pencil
Rubber Glasses
Ear Protection

LUMBER:

one/4″ Plywood
1 | 1 x four @ 6′
1 | Drawer Face (I usually use a 1×6 with this size drawer)

CUTS:

2 | 1 x 4 @ 15″ (sides)
1 | 1 ten 4 @ 10 1/2″ (front & back)
one | Plywood @ 12″ x 15″ (lesser)

Step 1.

Build the drawer frame.

Utilise wood glue to the ends of the forepart & dorsum boards, clamp to the sides, and attach with 1 1/4″ pocket pigsty screws.

Utilise two pocket holes on each side of the front & back boards for a secure joint. Face the pocket holes toward the outside of the drawer to all-time hide them. The drawer face will hide the pocket holes on the front and the back pocket holes will face the within of your piece of furniture.

Footstep two.

Attach the bottom console to the drawer frame with forest glue and 1″ stop nails.

This is definitely one of the easiest ways to build a drawer. I've seen Anika over at Anika's DIY Life use information technology all the fourth dimension. Information technology's a great option for dressers, nightstands, finish tables, etc.

I typically use bottom-mount slides for this blazon of drawer to help reinforce the lesser, and I've never had an issue with the lesser warping or falling out. Still, if yous need a stronger drawer, consider building ane with all 1x material or employ grooves for the bottom panel.

In one case your drawer is finished, install the slides and the drawer front and you lot're good to go!
